[Vwdiesel] Load Reduction Relay

Can anyone tell me which relay is the load reduction relay and where it is 
located in relation to the fuse panel? My Bentley manual isn't very specific 
about the location of this relay.


 Sure it is.  '77 - '84 Bentley, section 6 page 146.  Bottom right relay, as 
you 
look at the face of the box.  Horn is to it's left, wiper is above that.  
Make sure 
it's not the connections on the back of the panel while you're checking.  
Those 
are more prone to failure than the X-relay on the 81--> boxes.  The only 
other 
thing that relay kicks though is rear defogger and if you have a second fan 
for 
dealer type A/C.
  The antenna pass through in the fender/footwell is the common culprit for 
water in the fuse box on those.  Check that.  Also be ready to repair any 
rust while you have the windshield out.  It's common to find a couple BB 
sized holes under the lip of the rubber.
