[Vwdiesel] Diesel Exhaust Temperatures

	I recently have had a 1.9TD installed in my 1984 Westfalia.  Do I have 
to be concerned with excessive exhaust temperatures if the engine is 
worked hard such as long uphill climbs in the summer?  I have been 
reading about the importance of installing a pyro meter at the turbo 
(preferably before the turbo I have read). Is exhaust temperature 
monitoring only needed for modified engines?
