The 84 VW has either GL-3 rated or GL-4 rated 80w-90 in it. Redline MT-90
is a GL-4 75w-90 lube. Redline MTL is a GL-3 and GL-4 70w-80 lube.
Amsoil also makes a GL-4 80w-90 lube. It's product code is AGT.
