[Vwdiesel] Fading red paint (long)

  I thought all of the VW's of that vintage were basecoat/clearcoat?  If
that's
the case then of course the red would be thin and it won't keep a shine and
oxidizes easily.  I sure know the metallics of that vintage are.  With a base
coat system you don't get the oxidation since there's a clear over the red.
Sounds kind of like paint time.  My Jetta started peeling the clear this year.
