[Vwdiesel] Fading red paint (long)

Well my '85 Jetta TD is the Alpine White. Absolutely
NO clear coat was ever on it. Still has the original
paint. I've kept it waxed over the years, so the paint
still looks great. I think in the '80s vintage was
sort of a transiotion. The solid colors had no clear
coat and the metallics did.
