[Vwdiesel] Mercedes Benz 190 E Diesel

Hello Nate,
These Mercedes w201 190D's were produced from 1984-1989. At least that
is what you will find here in the states.

The 84-85 models were 2.2L 4 cylinder IDI. Came with 4 speed auto or 5
speed stick. Uses a timimg chain vs belt. Hydraulic lifters. Engine
designation is OM601.XX.   72hp 96ft-lbs

In 1986, a 5cyl 2.5L (OM602.xx) replaced the 4 cyl. I have only seen
these in automatic. Though, manual versions reportedly exist. Basically
identical to the 4 cyl, but with another cylinder. 93hp 122ft-lbs

In 1987 only, a turbo-diesel variant of the OM602 was produced. This
engine was also used in the later 300d. 121hp 165ft-lbs.
