A diesel specific oil has a special additive package specifically for
soot suspension. And if I'm not mistaken, it has a higher zinc content
than non. Zinc is a high pressure lubricant. Too high a zinc content
will foul spark plugs in a gasser.
If you look at the so-called oil rating circle, you will see SJx only,
SJx/Cx,Cx/SJx, or Cx only. Where SJx only has no soot suspension
properties, SJ/Cx has some, and Cx/SJ has a bit more, and Cx only has
much more. Also with increasing levels of zinc.
There was an oil comparison site that explained all of this, of which I
don't remember where. Sorry.
