I have been contacted by some owners of OLD VW Rabbits and Jettas .
Condensing the procedures for getting power without smoke --- may be the t=
hing to do.It is a lot easier to see the mistakes with a LOT of hindsight. =
Like Earl Logan used to say ----it hard to remember you are there to drain =
the swamp if you are up to your ass in gators.

Firstly , you fiddled with the thing and it still smokes and lacks power.=
Then it may be time to apply " Injection timing of old Volks --- b=
y old Volks. (hillbilly volks).# 1. " ( thu 31 july 2003 ).

Why does all the NORMAL things fail ? like taking it to the dealership. Th=
ey have to go by the book. Money , lots of money. If I was the dealer , =
I would send the pump and injectors to a repairshop --- got the drift ?.

I promised to say why I became so good at fine tuning Rabbits in only 5 yea=
rs . LOL by fiddling with them every day for hours. And using this place=
every day. Began fiddling with diesels in 1945.

Finding a cheap replacement pump ? easy at junkyards and private sales. You=
do not NEED to use the exact type for 1.5L and 1.6L engines. any of the =
bosch VE pumps will work , for a billy. Remember a quote from dealer for=
 a 1882 Rabbit 1.6L NA Bosch pump (NEW) was 5000 dollars Canadian --- that=
's what set me on fire.

Before doing anything drastic ---test internal pump pressure.(if wrong timi=
ng does not work) Pump RPM versus pressure as follows. 500 2.4 t=
o 3.0 bar 750 3.5 to 4.1 bar 1000 4.6 to 5.2 bar . =
                           Hagar.

PS: One more big THANKS to Gary from Orlando - he got me started.
