[Vwdiesel] Quickie on how to tell a 1500 from a 1600, 1600Td ( without turbo ) and 1.9

Hi all,
     There's an ad for a VW diesel engine in the paper so I'm thinking about
going and seeing it.  Figure I'll need something to play with!  Just curious
if / how you tell the difference between the various VW diesels.  I've heard
the 1500 has a different IP than the 1600 but what makes it different?
