Thanks for the help guys.  This is the sort of trouble I get into
because I don't work on this stuff enough.

Hagar.  I sounds like there are two types of cv joints with different
dimensions, but they should both work.  I don't know why they had to
change anything.

It is difficult to get in there and make measurements with the front
suspension assembled.  The circlip ends protrude about .23".  It
appears that the circlip is fully seated into the grove.  I am quit
sure that it is the circlip that is rubbing on the cv joint.

I am going to check some other stuff and attempt to get hip.
