I just found out that LOREN has a 49cc transporter.  --  eh here we go :

It was a dark and stormy night ---  way out in farm country Denmark 1949 and 

my 49 cc ran out of fuel.   Found a little store with a gas pump outside.All was dark
but there was a pushbutton saying ring for service.    I pushed the button --- after a long
time a light came on in a farmhouse about a quarter mile away.  I felt like fleeing.
I got the gas and the man must have cursed on the way back to bed. He just sold
1.5 Liters of gasoline.    Over there the cycle was called a "Knallert"  pushbike with
a small motor added. ---------The day may come when they are right for America.

Loose translation of Knallert ? ---Firecracker.

This week I smiled every time I drove by the station price board in my Rabbit 1984 turbo
still hillbilly tuned for economy    --- how sweet she is.

PS: The Rabbit is doing about 60 miles to a us gallon.(when driven for max mileage).
