Remember you said you checked an Audi flywheel. If you're comparing
that to a transverse flywheel, they're totally different. The pressure plate
is the one that bolts up and it can still only go on one way. It's dowl
pins that keep the two synched. I've seen the possibility of putting the
flywheel on the pressure plate wrong but careful installation has always
ended up correct in spite of it being ME doing it! ;-) Apparently there
are a few people out there capable of doing it wrong. I can't imagine
someone going to the bother to drill out a transverse flywheel bolt pattern
when all you have to do is rotate it to the correct position!
