You obviously need to consider a later car for your wife.  My 03 Jetta TDI
has a neck breaking airbag, and a glove box that holds my wife's purse,
my daughter's MP3 player, two headsets, an envelope of spare cash,
a EZPass transponder, a box of bandaids, two LED flashlights, and a 
2meter/70cm handheld radio.  Life is great.
