[Vwdiesel] Towing Experience

A buddy's son just paid 1100 CDN to have a truck he bought off ebay in
Ontario shipped to Saskatchewan.
They pulled it off the car carrier, and it's not even a good parts pile, 6.2
missing air cleaner assy, rad, shroud, bracketry, alt, fuel tank, lift pump,
etc etc etc. Poor guy. He was shafted large by the seller.
The 1000 to haul was about right.

Thinking about it, has anyone had experience with the financial
feasibility of having a car hauled across the country on a car carrier
truck? (Not that I'm looking at another project or anything....) It's
a big country sometimes. Particularly when you're interested in a car
you've never seen and you just don't know whether it will make it across
the desert southwest under its own steam. Towing can be expensive in
and of itself. How about getting it put on a truck with 8 others?
Especially useful information if Loren is going to keep tempting us all
with those Diesel ads from Washington state :) To literally haul a car
across America, I've seen prices about $1,000. Seems kind of high, but
again, it is a big country.
