[Vwdiesel] when is it cold enough to use anti-gel diesel additive?

The diesel you buy this time of year should already have additives to
prevent gelling. 

  AFIK the majority of the anti-gelling is from mixing #1 and #2.  Drive 
down a major interstate, through -30 weather, in thte middle of nowhere, 
and the truck stops all have ratios up on the reader signs.  80/20 mostly 
but a few would have 76/24 listed.  
  The concern I'd have about running used motor oil would be fine particles 
or even ions of metals running through the pump and injectors.
