[Vwdiesel] propane fumigation

I have used propane injection in two distinct forms. One was a
constant low flow system that was on all the time but at a very low
amount. It made a difference in power but not much. The other
system was a "dump" system. It was boost activated and like a NOS
system, simply opened a valve and let propane into the system above a
certain boost pressure. Three problems I had with this system: 1)
hard to regulate the amount of propane hit, it was always way too
hard or just barely noticable, still there but very low, 2) system
does not adjust for higher speeds or boosts, it delivers the same
amount all the time, and 3) I had constant problems with the valve
freezing up, unfortunately often in the OPEN condition, scary to say
the least since the car will run even with no diesel being given to
the engine. There are some systems available that are variable with
boost level that start with a small amount on propane and then
increase the amount as speed and boost increases. They do add power,
they do lower EGT but from my experience, they can be very finicky.
