on old Rabbits   1980 to 1984   it is piece of Apple pie. -------- I never undo the BIG
nut anymore  ,I slip off the inner CV  joint off the spline .

Yes all CV boots can be changed that way.  ----.Then I put REAL   screw-clamps    all
stainless on all hold downs.  Narrow miniclamps are available --- here I use two end to
end on the outer joints.
NO MORE SLIPPING OFF  while turning sharp in the winter time.
