I think I've got it now. No, I'm not using Newsgroups but
similar logic applied to the "mail sending format" as described
in your earlier message allowed me to change down to 65 for Email
transmission.
On this now displayed HTML mini page there is some garbage
about
MIME...
Make sure that the scrolling options (called "Encode Text
Using." on mine) have the words 'NONE'
displayed. This then allows the line length to be adjusted.
Change
it to somewhere between 60 and 70...and
Bob's Yer Uncle....
Now all I have to do is learn how to respond to individual
messages. We're getting better - thanks!
Big article in today's paper about the new "Smart Car" which is
being manufactured in California for the US market by "ZAP."
Engineered by Mercedes-Benz, the car reports to get 60 MPG, has a
45 horsepower turbo-gasoline engine, multiple speed clutchless
transmission, top speed around 65-70mph, seats two and is 8 feet
long by 5 feet wide. Retails locally at $27K to $29K.
The irony is that it is being sold locally by a Ford Dealership
who only a few years ago was selling the Ford Fiesta which in
early versions would get 50 MPG for a 4 seat car that sold for
less than 6K. It's a little different world with gasoline at
roughly double what it cost in inflation adjusted 1995 dollars.
See http://www.zapworld.com/cars/smartCar.asp for more info on
this rather expensive baby buggy.
Best,
Joe
