I've seen diaphragm replacements on ebay, but they are a much larger diaphragm than what is on this car. Is thre an easy replacement for this model ('83), what is involved, and does it immediately restore full boost function to brakes. Where can it be purchased, and what is involved with its replacement? Thanks!
Amazingly, you can find those parts at most an VW dealer parts counter, just give them your VIN and they can look up the exact
parts you need. There are two rebuild kits available, one includes the rubber diaphram you mention, the other kit includes the
two plastic check valves in the pump head. It may be worth pulling the pump apart to see what parts you need. Not hard to do,
it slides in and out like a distributor (goes in the same hole as one, too).
