Front struts have you scared ? ----Here is how I do mine NOW.     :

Remember Churchill ?   --- he said the Americans will do it right  ---after having tried all the 
other ways. ---And so did I ----I wasted a lot of time making a 3 legged DIY tool for 
removing springs.  -----WASTE of time.

Now I remove strut complete------APPLE pie.       Then I put in vise and unscrew like a
corkscrew.  Simply pry end of spring over edge of lower cup.

Installing ?  ---use any of a million ways of compressing spring  ---and tie with disposeable
straps.  ----to be cut after installation. ( formwire is a good bet ).

NO fancy tools needed.
