  I do believe the formula you're working for is 2 * Pi * r but I do believe 
you worked out 2 * Pi * d.  About twice what you're looking for.
  When I did tie rods on the Jetta I tried to get them close as possible 
by copy method.  Did one at a time and then ran up the road a couple 
times adjusting and testing.  I was off by a couple turns or better on each 
for tracking straight with the wheel straight.  Still did a TON better after 
having it done by machine!
