[Vwdiesel] New clutch slipping like mad

Could this new clutch plate be wrong thickness?In one of my previous
Quantae I replaced a worn-out plate with anew one that was barely thicker
than the 15 yr old one it replaced. It did work but no way would it last
the same time!
