The question is whether this list is topic limited, or participant limited.
In other words is the list the creation of a community, or is it limited
to topics strictly within the bounds of the stated charter.
Beats me.
On the diesel VW front, large pothole (yes, in summer!), caused a tire rim
bend on the 91. My daughter, who worked so hard on the cylinder head
rebuild was riding, while I drove her to a physician's appointment. She
admonished me for hitting the pot hole. Then I noticed a vibration at
80 mph speeds. Took the wheel rim off to hammer out the pothole curl,
and noticed that there was grease on the backside of the spindle.
Looks like I'll be doing a wheel bearing. I checked the other side, and
that one is starting to get loose.
The timing will work out OK, because I have to do struts shortly, and
I'll pull the whole thing, and do the struts, and bearings, and whatever
else is needed. Thanks for the Autohaus tip. Bearings are affordable
there; the local chains here want 45 to 65 US$.

ps: Bearings are me today. Just getting ready to replace the outer tub in
the family Neptune clothes washer. Get a little soap into that seal,
and the bearing will eventually go. Spin cycles are pretty loud. It is
cheaper to do two front wheel bearings on a VW Jetta, because the parts
for this job exceed $200.
