I do the bottom clis first as well.  If I lay my hands flat, palm up I can slip those clips on first then pivot the cover up and 
push on the top clips.  I also applied a dab of silicone sealant to the pivot points to keep the spring steel clips from falling 
out.  On the bottom clips I find it works best to just press up on the center of the clip istead of trying to fiddle with the 
tab on the end, it works easier.
