[Vwdiesel] Quick Rabbit project update and question about pulleys

Hello all-

Worked on the Rabbit for a little bit tonight. I got
the old A/C compressor bracket off, thanks to a cheap
wrench being heated and bent. I looked all over
Manhattan yesterday, and no one sold "S" shaped
wrenches. A couple had some "C" shaped ones, but in
only a couple standard sizes.

Today I went to the Sears in Topeka and they didn't
even have on, so I bought the 13mm wrench in their
cheap brand, and had one of the bus mechanics heat and
bend it. Worked like a charm, thanks Roger for the
idea.

Anyway, I mounted up one of the long-snout alternators
with the new bracket, and it appears that the
alternator pulley won't line up with the water pump
pulley. It is just a few mm too short.

Do I need a new water pump pulley to match? How about
crank pulley? Anyone have any ideas on shimming the
alternator pulley to make it stick out a little more?
Could that work?

If I need other new pulleys, anyone have part numbers?
I see that in the trunk there are a couple other
pulleys, but I don't know what they are for.

Thanks,

David
