[Vwdiesel] Help with ID of an engine

If I needed the parts then maybe $100-200 if the engine was shot? I could be
way off my rocker. Don't really know.

Yes, the Audi diesels were longitudinal, as well as the VW Quantum and
Dasher. I don't know about the Fox - never seen one of them in person close
up to where I could check it out. From the look of it I would guess it was
transverse - the hood looks a little shorter like a Jetta or Rabbit to me.

I almost bought a worn out gas Quantum just because it was 4x4. Still kinda
like the idea of having a little 4 wheel drive diesel station wagon to head
up to the mountain or to visit the in-laws in Idaho.
