[Vwdiesel] Fan thermo switch failure problem

Has he double checked that it's actually over-heating / getting hot? Or is
he relying on the "rarely accurate" temp gauge to tell him that it's getting
hot. I used to think that my '92 Eco was overheating, but checked it with
an infrared gauge and it was fine. Switched out the dash cluster for a
different reason a few years later and the new gauge reads much lower.
Don't assume the gauge is accurate...

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Fan thermo switch failure problem
I have a friend who has a ´92 1.6TD jetta and his radiator fan thermo switch
keeps failing - seems to be fine after they replace it, then after 1000km it
stops working and he has to bypass it manually when the engine gets
hot....anyone ever hear of this problem? he had the head replaced a few
thousand kms ago.
