I've heard that too, but then I've also heard that they are just as
reliable as the VW 1.6s; make sure you change the oil, religiously
change the timing belt, and everything comes out peachy. I imagine a
larger oil pump, or a supplementary pump, would more than solve any
potential head oiling problems, and a bigger radiator, cooler
thermostat, or light water injection would help the "run hotter" issue
I've heard about as well. Heck, just going to a pair of thermostatically
controlled electric fans on the radiator instead of the crank-driven
jobbie would probably improve that one!

Speaking of which, if I end up buying the Volvo, the "two electric fans"
mod will be the first one that I do, and I'll probably install an
after-run switch and a real temp gauge, too.
