Adding a turbo to an NA engine will do it no harm, as long as you do not
install a turbo pump, and hook up the boost aneroid. The turbo WILL cure
altitude sickness, and cut back or eliminate smoke (all other factors being
normal). The car will perform as if at sea level, at 10,000 feet.
The turbo just blows more fresh air in to the cylinders aiding clean
combustion.
You only risk the engine if you jack up the fueling, or connect the turbo
boost aneroid , which does the same thing.
Then you need the piston coolers, an EGT gauge, and to be carefull how much
you allow the boost to increase the fueling.
