  Depends.  If it's all gunky then sometimes cleaning and light 
lube helps.  It generally only HELPS though and they often start 
doing it again in a few weeks/months.  Problem is unless you find 
that RARE supplier, the bendix (or solenoid) costs about 80% of 
what a rebuild starter costs!  :-P
