[Vwdiesel] More Dasher?

Yesterday, I thought I would show off my Dasher diesel wagon & drive it to an antique radio meeting. 24 miles from home, the accelerator cable came loose from the peddle & I foolishly did not have any tools with me to reattach the cable so the Dasher returned home on the flatbed of an AAA tow truck. I can probably figure out how to fix it but any tips that might save me a little time would be appreciated. The cable itself seems OK. Also, one of the return hoses came loose from the injector & appears mushy. What should I replace them with? I like the clear plastic line you can buy in a hardware store so you can monitor the fuel flow, but will they hold up to diesel & biodiesel? Its been mentioned before, but what is the best hose to cope with today's ULS diesel & biodiesel. Is there good see thru plastic hose I can use?

Another question. How do you remove the head rests from the front seat of the Dasher? I wish to install new seat covers.

On by 1979 Citroen CX diesel, I found the rubber fuel line from the fuel tank to the fuel filter to be mushy so I replaced it. I replaced the fuel line from the filter to the injection pump with a clear plastic line after I had difficulty starting it. The fuel filter manual primer seemed to pump a mixture of air & fuel. I finally got it started but could still see a mixture of air & fuel flowing from the fuel filter to the injection pump which I don't think is OK although it now runs good. Should I see any air bubbles in the fuel flow?
