[Vwdiesel] low temps

Over the years, I have discovered that the heater alone will dissipate all
the engine heat  when just putting around town. I fact, I notice in winter
that even with a good tight thermostat, if I'm not driving over 30mph, it
starts to drop off at the stop lights.

All this when the outside temp is well below freezing.

Since my rad fan has been non-functional for some time, I flick on the
heater in summer if I have to climb a short mountain at low speed. (I often
"off-road" when servicing ham radio repeaters, always located on hill tops)
