Well, it turned out to be advanced in timing making the pinging loud diesel
sound. I retarded it just a little and the sound went away. Good news there.
I also got my EGT gage working. I ran a ground straight from the battery and
that fixed it.

But wait there is more, now I have an over heat issue. I took it out to
stretch it's legs some and noticed that the temp gage was running past
middle which isn't normal, at least before it wasn't unless I was running
the AC which I wasn't. So I came right back home and while in the drive it
got up to just about the 3/4 line and looked to see if the fans were on and
they were not, I turned the ac on and the fans came one, turned ac off and
fans went off. So I shut it down. I felt the hoses and all were hot, the
radiator was hot everywhere I could touch it. Could the timing not being set
exact make a difference on running temp?
