I finally got the driver door wiring set up to work on my 1994 Jetta TD, only to learn the window winder doesn't want to function. The passenger door window winder has always worked, and works from the driver door switch. Driver door winder won't even make any noise. I've confirmed that the driver door switch activates power to the winder connector, so I'm assuminig the winder motor itself is toast.

Bentley says to remove glass as the first step in removing the regulator assembly. First step in the directions for removing the glass is to lower it. If the winder won't work, how do you lower the glass so you can remove the glass so you can remove the regulator????

Is it possible to replace just the motor or do you have to replace the whole assembly?
