[Vwdiesel] More Dasher?

Thanks for the replies. For those of you who don't know, the Dasher & Quantum engines are mounted in a north-south fashion where as the Rabbit, Golf & Jetta are traverse or east-west mounted. However, except for mounting brackets & possibly oil pans, I understand the Rabbit & Dasher diesels are interchangeable. Although I have two 1981Rabbit diesels, I have not worked on them much, & may not get around to it in view of my age & health. Right now, I am putting my efforts primarily into my '81 Dasher diesel wagon. I also have a 1954 Hudson Hornet, worth about $14,000 (and for sale) that needs brake work & that will have priority over the Rabbits. From the looks of things, I probably took the right course in removing the right front engine mount since I think the other course would be to remove the intake & exhaust manifolds which would take more time, & there still might be enough clearance to remove the starter with the engine mount in the way. Of note, the starter rebuilder gave me what looks like a copper bearing for the end of the starter shaft that looks like it fits into the bell housing. Don't know yet if the old one will be easy or hard to remove. Any suggestions here?
