[Vwdiesel] Clutch problems

When I went to start it everything was fine until I was easing the clutch
pedal back out with it in gear. As soon as the clutch started to grab was
when I got all the vibration. I haven't tried to start it since then. I'm
pretty much resigned to pulling the tranny at this point. If I don't see an
obvious problem once I have the clutch apart then I'll start worrying about
the transmission. But it still shifts like normal with the engine off.
Everything feels like I expect it to there, so I'm pretty hopeful to not
have any internal problems with it.
Problem with trying it out, like you say, is that right now something is
lodged in there and the clutch feels like it's disengaged right now, just
from the lack of pressure on the pedal. So I think there's something either
holding the push-rod out of place or there's something extra caught up in
the disc/pressure plate area.
Thanks!
