[Vwdiesel] I have an idle, but it dies on acceleration

The pump is the stock pump from the 1997 Canadian AAZ engine. I did
initially start it on fresh fuel from a gallon jug and I noted that there was
virtually NO fuel coming out of the pump's return line.

I then ran a couple cans of Lubromoly's "Diesel Purge" through it by
putting the pump's intake and return lines directly in the bottle. I still saw
almost no fuel coming out of the return line, but I did get some rpm
increase and it ran smoother.

When I tried it on diesel fuel again, I was back to where I started with
little rpm increase and stalling.

It sounds like I need to fill the pump with strong stuff, leave it to sit
overnight, then run it directly on a bottle and really wind the engine out.

Would it be OK to fill the pump with some "Marvel Mystery Oil", or would
that be too strong a solvent?

thanks!

Just wondering, what injection pump are you running on the 1.9 TD?

Is it an old 1.6TD that was sitting or a new 1.9TD pump that only sat
those 5 years?
