I got everything that were in connection with the engine TD pulled out
of 91 VW Jetta. So is with the gas engine in 88 VW Jetta. Then I put
the 91 Jetta parts and then diesel engine and 5 speed tranny into the 88
Jetta without much problem. Yes some struggles I experienced like
pulling clutch and brake pedal system out and then put it in the other
car (manual system to replace auto system). Now it is fine - no
problem. My present issue is wiring! I use alligator clips to turn on
fuel cut off valve and glow plugs by hooking them on the positive
terminal of battery. After several seconds, the TD engine started
greatly. I immediately unhooked the glow plug bar wire alligator clip
off the battery. I drove the car around and it was ok. When I turned
the ignition key off, the engine kept on running, I popped up the hood
and unhooked the fuel cut off valve. The engine stopped. It happened
several times as I drove around, going to some shopping areas. :-)
Now my issues are with wiring in correct connection with the fuse and
relay panel. I pulled a glow plug relay out of the 91 VW Jetta. I plan
to just plug wires into the terminals of the relay to connect it to some
wires under the steering column. I was at loss of which wires to
connect the relay, and to thermostat temperature senders and to the
intake part. I need a wiring schematic for 91 VW Jetta TD to obtain
correct information. I have four 1974 to 1992 VW Repair manuals and I
couldn't find the wiring schematic for 91 VW Jetta TD. Can someone
please tell me where to find it? or if someone send me a copy of it,
I'll appreciate it very much. Thank you. Jim
