This DSG is an automatic shifting manual transmission. I saw one on display at the LA auto show & the insides looked EXTREMELY complicated to me. It has two clutches. Clutches wear out eventually. Re fuel economy, it should be as efficient as a normal manual transmission. My question is WHO can repair it AND at what cost? I am afraid of that transmission & wouldn't want one unless VW would warrant it for 10 years or 150,000 miles. I doubt your average VW dealership would be able to repair it.
