[Vwdiesel] More Quantum Questions?

I want to replace the timing belt although the current one & belts look fairly new. However, I can't figure out how to remove the belts from the water pump & power steering pump. Searched my Quantum Bentley but couldn't find an answer. The Bentley says the timing belt should have a particular tension to it & specifies a particular VW tool for it. I have ordered a new timing belt tensioner but in looking at the Bentley & looking at my car, there is what is described as an "intermediate shaft pulley" which is an idler pulley for the timing belt. Does this tend to wear out or is it good for ever? Also there is mention of a special wrench to turn the engine over at the crankshaft pulley. Space appears limited due to the radiator which isn't the case on my Dasher. Should I buy these special tools & if so, where?

I think I will take my head back tomorrow from the machinist if he hasn't started on it based on the feedback I have received.
