I've kind of assumed that popping the key out and back not only 
turns off the radio but all of the alarm other than the blinking LED 
on the driver's door.  Just turn it off and leave it and the battery 
went dead a LOT faster than popping it out and in.  Dad originally 
pulled it and set it in the center.  He found no noticeable difference 
in that and leaving it in the ignition, after pulling the key.
