[Vwdiesel] Stood for a year now will not start

  Odds are it's one of 3 things.
1) no power to the solenoid or it isn't opening.  Not highest on the 
list but it's possible.
2) Pump's lift pump portion is stuck and not pumping.  After sitting 
only a year or so it's still not likely but possible.
3)  There's air in the system and it's simply going to take some 
cranking or towing in 2nd or 3rd gear to get it started then it 
should be just fine. 
  There are exceptions. If you live where the humidity is really high 
and the tank was low, you could easily have algea growing in the 
tank and even the pump and fuel filter.  When I visited a pump 
shop in TX, the guy told me that a year was about all it took to 
have so much algae that the pump has to be disassembled and 
cleaned along with flushing the tank, etc.  
 Hope it's not that!
