Not sure but I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work... but if you
put the cam lock and pump pin back in, you know the cam and pump are right
with each other, and I hope that the cam/crank are still right or else you'd
be bending valves by now, right?
If I'm not mistaken you're a lot more likely to get fire being too advanced
rather than too retarded, so I'd say start turning the pump a hair at a time
toward the advanced side (and make sure you're going the right way - it's
easy to get confused and it's been long enough that I'm not going to try to
explain it :) ) and see if you can't get it to fire before you run out of
adjustment.
Then again there's always the tow-start option. :)
