Unfortunately, you are correct. Only 5 speed transmissions out of an Audi 4k, VW Quantum, and VW Fox will fit. 

Also unfortunately, putting a five speed in a Dasher requires that you apply heat, a BFH, and possibly some cutting and welding to clearance the tunnel for the fifth gear hump. If you want a taller, more durable 4speed, however, you can put a PW from an 80's Fox in there no problems.

Reply to Doyt W Echelberger. Thank you for the offer but I don't think a Jetta transmission would fit as the Rabbit/Golf/Jetta engines are east west or traverse engines whereas the Dasher & Quantum engines are north south engines. I believe the transmissions are different & the only 5 speed transmission that would fit a Dasher would be from a Quantum. If by chance it would fit, I have a 5 speed Rabbit transmission that could serve as a donor.
