Shalyn, you are making me feel like a whimp. You are doing this outdoors and at night. You do not live in S. California, do you.
You are in a cold place like the rest of us, no?
Nice work, were do you get the go-nads?

Subject: [Vwdiesel] A4 engine mounts concluded (hopefully)
I pulled the engine mount tonight and installed my better used one.
It's late and really dark so I'll have to check it in the morning. Too
dark to see well and I think my neighbors would flay me if I started the
car up this late. Initial and hurried survey of the helicoil inserts
doesn't show any real damage. Could it be that at a certain torque
value, the inserts began turning into the mount along with the bolt? If
so, I'm still more comfortable changing it out--I don't like parts
moving around when they're not supposed to. When putting those bolts in
tonight, at the quarter-turn step, the torque wrench was showing ~120
ft. lbs. That's a lot of torque. About all my 135# can put on a bolt
with a torque wrench.
The good news is that if you loosen the tensioner and pull the lower
small roller, you can get that mount out if you maneuver the engine
enough. I don't think it will have messed with the timing any. I'll
find out in the morning, I suppose. The head and cam are fine at
least. I rolled it over by hand a few times.
