If it was running then there was fuel. Sometimes you have to start
them up, warm them up and gently run the snot out of them. You
just had the injectors out so the lines were empty, the pump was
fairly empty, wo you had air to purge plus it's easy to get a bit of
something in an injector or simply, older injectors will muck up
quite often, when taken out even without getting any "dirt" into them.
It started, so timing's close. If you set it with the gauge then it's
right or retarded (if you had the timing knob accidentally, still out.)
That leaves "clearing out" the injectors, bad injectors, air or a
combination. Of course that depends on setting the pump properly
but you should have that down by now. :-)
