  Friend's neighbor bought a van that used a huge amount of oil.  He got it 
cheap, 
changed oil, used synthetic. He had to add a few quarts then it quit using. 
 Drove 
it a while, changed it back to regular oil and sold it for a good profit.  
Figured it 
was stuck/carboned rings and looks like it was.  No muss no fuss and 
relatively 
a cheap fix.
