Update on my trip. I made it to Minnesota and back to Wyoming this past week. Ran into some really bad weather the last 40 miles where I didn't know if we were going to stay on the road with trailer behind the car like we had but we did. The car right in front of us about 120 miles from home hit a Buck deer and it was dark. I saw the swerve and then saw the dead/dying dear in my lane so I moved to the other lane as there wasn't time to stop a heavy load like I had. Wouldn't you know I hit something. So I pull over as the tire doesn't sound right. Sure enough a 1/2 inch diameter couple inch long antler is stuck in my tire. So, unpack everything to get to the tire and widow maker jack and change in the dark blizzard night on the interstate. I guess I will take the antler over the whole deer any day.
Lift pump worked good. New one was totally different looking but worked. I installed that, the new battery and picked up the hood latch at UPS and installed and took off. I never had a chance to check the lift pump but one of the last fill ups I noticed there was fuel dripping. So I popped the cover off, cleaned it up and tightened the retaining ring down as tight as I could get it. I think that worked as I didn't have any more fuel leaking. New hood latch worked fine. New battery turns the car over much better. I don't think my other battery would have made another winter. My fuel filter needs to be sealed with new seals as it is leaking a little as well. That didn't help the MPG but nether did the Yakima Pro 21 car top carrier and the trailer behind the car. I will seal that up this week and the car should be good to go after a bath from the MN salt. The car is now white and it is normally dark.
Brother received a notice about the glow plug recall for his car. He didn't get one last year when they went from 7v ceramics to 5v steels. He has the 7v steel coated ceramics that the latter cars had so I don't know why he got the letter and I didn't receive mine yet. I am trying to decide if I get it done as my tuner for my cars computer said he fixed the issue (haven't been able to test yet) or do I let them open my engine and replace the injectors, glow plugs and reflash the computer again. I don't trust them to do the injectors properly since they don't seem to replace torque to yield one time use bolts very much.
