[Vwdiesel] Is my turbo shot? broken? or should I look elsewhere?

  That buzzing hum/vibration sound a fan makes with leaves in it, sounds 
like 
you have an exhaust leak.  Could be pre or post turbine.  Friend got a good 

deal on a Subaru because of a similar noise.  We tightened 4 exhaust nuts 
and tada!
  You can pull the intake boot off and get access to the compressor wheel. 
Grap it with a couple fingers and wiggle.  Should be no in/out movement 
and just a tiny bit of side to side.
