Interesting. Here in Oregon the DEQ exempts personal trucks over
something like 8500 or 8600 lbs if they're diesel. So of course just
about any diesel pickup/suv/van will have a GVWR of 8550 or whatever
is just a hair over the limit. I assumed that it was that way in most
if not all states - why else would the limit be almost exactly the
same as the rating of the vehicle? But I never actually looked into
it.
